Manna From Heaven: Food and Faith in Leonardo's Last Supper    NEW!

Setting the table for the evolution of Western Art, Leonardo’s Last Supper is one of the quintessential revolutionary works of painting.  It has been the subject of much speculation, from why it soon became a crumbling wreck, to why Tom Hanks chose to wear such a bad toupée trying to unravel its secrets in The Da Vinci Code.  This lecture will tackle the question of what Leonardo put on the menu and how and why the dishes echo the significance of food in the court of Milan, the tenets and symbolism of Catholic belief, and Leonardo’s own theories and creations of art.
