This lecture will delve into the creation and maintenance of castles, the most notable structures of the Middle Ages. Home to courts, tapestries, and warriors alike, the castle was the heart of many a medieval town, and represented the best of elite life. Join us as we look at everything from motte and bailey to latrines in our survey of these imposing complexes.
