
This course is an introduction to American Sign Language (ASL). The course is designed for students who have had little to no previous exposure to ASL. It will provide a basic knowledge of ASL and the Deaf community's distinct cultural practices. Students will develop a strong foundation of ASL vocabulary and an understanding of ASL syntax and grammar. Additionally, students will gain an understanding of the history and culture of the Deaf community in the United States. Purchase of Signing Naturally: Student Workbook, Units 1-6 is suggested.
