Bridge   

Designed for those new to bridge, this class will teach students the structure of the game, from the deal and play of the cards to the foundational concepts of bidding and scoring. Each week builds your understanding—from how to win tricks in notrump contracts to learning about the power of trump suits. Through instruction and hands-on play, students will develop the skills and confidence to enjoy this classic and social card game. No prior experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to learn.

The instructor suggests that students watch this video to gain an overall view of what happens in a bridge game. 

This class is an excellent continuation for students who completed the new beginner series and is a wonderful opportunity for experienced players to join in and comprehend the basic skills of selecting the opening lead in both notrump and in trump contracts, how the partner interprets the opening lead and then how both partners cooperate as they strive to defeat declarer's contract. Attitude signals and basic defensive bridge adages will be covered.

At its heart, Bridge is a game about winning tricks, and the best way to understand how is by learning how the declarer (the player in charge of the hand) plays their cards. In this class, you'll explore simple strategies for counting immediate winning tricks and working around common challenges. You’ll also learn how to create extra tricks by using high cards wisely, playing long suits, or using smart techniques like finessing. This class is perfect for players who have taken one or both of our fall bridge series or who have at least a year of recent playing experience.
