Rockefeller, founder of Standard Oil, Kykuit is the pre-eminent domestic landmark in the Hudson Valley. Visitors will enjoy the elegant rooms and the expansive, beautifully kept gardens while listening to stories of the four generations of Rockefellers who called this hilltop paradise their home. Great for first-time visitors, this walking tour will include the main floor of the house, art galleries, the Inner Garden, and the West Terrace.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Participants should arrive at the Philipsburg Manor/Kykuit Visitor Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY, no less than 30 minutes prior to the tour.
- Tours go on rain or shine.
- Visitors will traverse both indoor and outdoor spaces with stairs and uneven ground and are required to stand for long periods of time with few places to sit.
- Students must make their own arrangements to get to the meeting place.

Nothing says fall like the perfect apple pie! Chef Jessica will teach you how to make the most delicious flaky pie crust to complement your perfect apple pie. You’ll also learn how to make two more delectable apple desserts: Apple Crisp and Apple Turnovers. And, of course, they will be served with vanilla ice cream.

The cooler temperatures and shorter days produce a colorful mix of beets, carrots, peas, and radishes. Green beans and garlic, along with herbs like parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, all sing in harmony and serve as the perfect subjects for pristine vegetable portraits on fine paper, where students will learn techniques in drawing, blending, and burnishing. Artists of all skill levels will feel at home in our welcoming setting.

Where walking meets strength, balance, and well-being!
FitWalk is a unique, outdoor fitness class that combines brisk walking with light strength training to boost energy, build muscle, and improve balance—all in the fresh air of nature. Using light hand weights (2–5 lbs, based on your fitness level), you’ll move through functional strength intervals designed to support better bones, joint health, and a strong core. Each session hits all the major muscle groups and includes training for stability, coordination, and posture. No two classes are exactly the same—but every FitWalk focuses on total-body wellness, community, and motivation. Along the way, you'll also build mindfulness and mental clarity, helping you feel stronger inside and out. All levels are welcome.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Bring 2 lb. or 3 lb. handheld dumbbells, depending on your fitness level.
- Athletic shoes are required. Dress in layers.
- As this is an outdoor class, please check your email in case of rain or potential inclement weather for class cancellation.
- This class will be canceled in the event of rain (sometimes at the last minute). Make-up dates will be added on as necessary, but we are unable to offer refunds or credit if you are not able to attend a scheduled make-up.

With football back, it's time to up your perfect football bites with Chef Jessica in this hands-on class. You will learn how to make perfect crispy oven-baked buffalo wings, with a creamy blue cheese dip. You will also learn how to make the simplest pretzel bites that will beg to be dipped in queso. And to bring everything back into the end zone, you'll make bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers. Not a fan of football? These treats are great as appetizers or for any casual gathering.

Additionally, you’ll discover how to use spice, texture, and acid to balance flavors within individual dishes and throughout your entire holiday feast. We also discuss pro tips for advanced planning to make your preparation easier. These mouth-watering vegetable dishes will become the stars of your holiday table.

In late fall, as the air turns crisp, we will fill journals with the spare and stunning offerings of native tree twigs and their terminal buds, and berries. American beech, tulip poplar, hickory, and maple show a burst of life in the cool months. As if preparing for the holidays, our native trees also give us a show of bright red berries from American holly, mulberry, and red maple. We will learn the art and science of native trees and berries using mark-making in ink and transparent watercolor, creating keepsake journals that last forever. Artists of all skill levels will feel at home in our welcoming setting.

- Students should purchase a 5” x 8” horizontal journal. The instructor recommends this one.

In addition to the locals that stay all year, there are several species that are here only during the winter. You may also see some of the “wintering ducks,” including the hooded merganser, the American black duck, and the green-winged teal duck.
