Through a combination of instruction and gameplay, the goals of this level are for students to:

- Develop backhand strokes

- Volley medium-paced shots

To enroll in this level, students must know the basic rules of the game and must be able to:

- Hit consistent forehand shot
- Demonstrate a backhand shot
- Sustain a short rally with players of equal ability
- Properly position themselves on the court
- Serve consistently

- Move in a safe and balanced manner, having good mobility
