Drawing Foundations and Beyond Build a strong foundation in drawing with this step-by-step class designed for all levels. Over the course of the class, you’ll:

• Master three essential measuring skills.
• Learn to draw simple still lifes and landscapes.
• Develop your understanding of light, shadow, and shading.

Each week focuses on clear, practical exercises to help you gain confidence and accuracy in your drawing. Students will work on completing both a still life and a landscape, and we will devote the last couple of classes to portrait drawing. This class is suitable for both beginners and more experienced artists. Previous students are welcome and encouraged to register; projects will be tailored to skill level.

Colored pencil painting combines the control of drawing with the richness of painting. You'll learn how to use a watercolor wash as an initial base layer and then use colored pencils along with a brush and solvent to blend colors, build layers, and create rich, textured artwork.  Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned artist, this class welcomes all skill levels. If you're not confident in your drawing skills, the instructor will provide a pre-drawn image to help you get started.

Explore your talents with acrylic paint. In each class, students will transform a blank canvas into a finished masterpiece. With step-by-step instructions, you will be guided to create your one-of-a-kind work. Students will learn and use techniques such as blending, layering, splattering, and dry brushing to add texture and detail to their work. The subjects will be different from the previous session. All levels are welcome, and no experience is required.

This workshop consists of a demo, independent art-making, and an end-of-class art share.

You've taken some great photos...what's next? This course teaches beginner and expert photographers how to organize, develop, edit, retouch, and share your photos with Adobe Lightroom Classic. Students will start with the fundamentals and finish with a comprehensive workflow they can use to take their photos from RAW to WOW every time! Topics covered include interface basics, importing photos, cropping, adjusting exposure, recovering highlights, color balance, sharpening, applying effects, retouching portraits, enhancing landscapes and exporting for printing, emailing, and social media. No prior digital photography classes are required.

Beginners, experienced or lapsed knitters are welcome.  Learn to knit from the first stitch, master new stitches like lace and cables, or receive help with a project. Beginner patterns will be available, such as fingerless gloves, cowls and a toy stuffed rabbit.  If you are beyond beginner, please bring your supplies and a pattern on which you will work and receive help in class.

During this hands-on Kintsugi-inspired workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn, create, and share. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, highlighting the cracks instead of hiding them–embracing imperfections as part of the object’s history. This philosophy can also serve as a powerful metaphor for personal growth and healing.

Students will learn about this historic art form and how it can apply to each person. They will be guided through a modern approach, wherein they break, paint, and rebuild their own bowl, showing and creating a connection to their journey. Participants will paint their bowls and then highlight the cracks with gold glue making it unique to them. Attendees will also have the opportunity to share collectively or in small groups, conversing about how we have all been challenged in various ways, and how there is strength in the growth of the rebuild. As an art therapist, Tara offers opportunities for connection through art, relating it to self and the healing process of putting our own pieces back together.

“Winter’s Tiny Treasures” are nature’s whispers from prior seasons, scattered across the icy landscape. They are waiting to be captured forever in our little blue horizontal books. Sweet acorns and tiny red berries, curled colored leaves, and mossy green twigs invite us to look closely to discover their beauty and beginnings. Horizontal journaling introduces every participant, whatever their skills, to learn about mark-making in archival ink and then painting in lovely transparent watercolor using dry brush, to create a lasting nature story. We will identify, research, share, and enjoy learning in a welcoming, participatory class.

This class introduces the fundamental techniques for creating beautiful, balanced floral designs for your home or as gifts. All necessary tools, a variety of fresh, seasonal blooms and greenery, a container for your arrangement, and an apron for use during the class are provided. You'll take home your stunning creation.

Similar to the original Acrylics on Canvas class, students will receive step-by-step instructions that will result in a finished painting for beginners and more seasoned artists alike! In this class, students will focus on completing on a pair of hands over 4 classes in order to accomplish skills such as sketching, proportions, washing, color values, light source, and composition.

Bring your imagination, or a favorite photograph, to life through the art of collage. Whether you’re drawn to sweeping landscapes or expressive portraits, you’ll learn to transform everyday materials like maps, magazines, old books, and textured papers into richly layered works of art. The instructor will guide you through techniques for color matching, composition, and texture to help your subject take shape and shine. Learn the art of nuno felting and make a beautiful, wearable infinity scarf. This class will give the ins and outs of wet felting, using different wool and silk fibers and textures to create a wonderful work of art. Students choose from an array of color combos and embellishment fibers.

In this five-week course, students will explore the exciting world of cartooning from the ground up. Starting with beginner drawing techniques, they’ll learn how to sketch expressive faces, dynamic poses, and unique character features. Each week builds new skills—from shaping personalities and story concepts to refining line work, proportions, and style. By the end of the session, every student will design and complete their own original cartoon character, ready to leap off the page in full color. 

Delicate and full of charm, these Blossom Mosaic Coasters feature hand-placed and cut glass petals surrounded by crisp white and vibrant green tiles. Each piece is beautifully arranged in a wooden coaster, capturing the grace of blooming flowers in springtime. Perfect for brightening any coffee table or adding a touch of handcrafted artistry to your home décor, these coasters blend functionality with natural elegance. Each student will make four coasters. 

Weave a rectangular to oval twill basket on a wooden base that can hold your tea or coffee accessories. Choose your twining colors to make it uniquely yours. While the project begins with a fun challenge—threading 45 spokes into the wooden base—once those are in place and you’ve woven a few rows, the rest comes together easily. Tray measures 12" x 8" x 4" high.

Who doesn’t deserve a custom-designed beaded necklace or two? And how satisfying that it’s created by you. The project will be tailored to the student’s ability to build on their skills to design and implement unique jewelry. Students should be comfortable with basic beadweaving techniques.

This three-week crochet class teaches beginners the basic stitches needed to create crochet fabric. No experience is required.

In this two-session workshop, participants will design and carve a double-sided wood block, one side for bold color shapes, the other for fine details. Students will develop their own imagery, transfer designs, prepare and carve the block, and explore color layering through printing. No experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore the creative world of printmaking.
