Interested in making your own jewelry? This three-class series will focus on the basics, giving you a solid foundation in stringing techniques, wire wrapping, and simple knotting. You'll be on your way to creating unique and interesting jewelry.

Create a landscape or still life watercolor painting in each educational and enjoyable class session, using a variety of creative watercolor techniques, including wet-on-wet, dry-to-wet and the dry brush method, just to name a few. A variety of brushes will be used to expand on these techniques and the occasional use of watercolor pencils will create quick and surprising detail to your painting. Each session will introduce at least one of these techniques, allowing you to bring home a completed masterpiece that is created in a relaxed atmosphere (including background jazz!). This course is designed for both the beginner and more advanced artist. This semester will feature all new paintings and will not repeat paintings from previous semesters. Paintings will be the same as the evening session. Paintings will be the same as the daytime session.

Topics include camera operation, exposure controls, shutter, aperture, ISO, white balance, focusing modes, and composition techniques.

In this class, we will use colored paper to create collages of still lifes, animals, flowers, and/or fruits, exploring the beauty of the pure pigment of color paper, layering, color theory, and much more. Students will work at their own pace, and over the course of the evening, they may complete multiple projects. Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced artist, come get colorful and creative! We hope you leave each class with the feeling that “art inspires wellness.”

Calligraphy can be a meditation as well as an art form if you slow down and enjoy the beautiful process stroke by stroke. Students will learn the fundamentals of calligraphy by working with three different calligraphy tools. First, we'll use a pointed pen and learn a copperplate alphabet, a beautiful, elegant 18th-century script style. Then, we will switch to a broad edge marker and learn an Italic alphabet, a versatile 15th-century calligraphy style. Finally, we will learn modern calligraphy techniques using a brush pen. Beginner students will progress from learning the basic letter forms to writing sentences. This class is for both beginners and more experienced students who want to fine-tune their skills.

This class will focus on drawing by first learning to see. We will slow down, look at objects, and notice how they are formed: where do parts intersect, and how do we turn something 3D into 2D? We will explore different drawing approaches, including contour drawing, gesture drawing, using light and dark, utilizing a grid, and negative space drawing. As the class progresses, students will create completed drawings, using composition to focus the intention of the drawing. All levels are welcome.

This course provides beginners with a comprehensive start to the world of digital photography through classroom lectures, demonstrations, and instructor-led photo shoots. See what your camera is capable of! Topics include camera operation, exposure controls, shutter, aperture, ISO, white balance, depth of field, composition, portraiture and landscape photography.

Beginners, experienced or lapsed knitters are welcome.  Learn to knit from the first stitch, master new stitches like lace and cables, or receive help with a project. Beginner patterns will be available, such as fingerless gloves, cowls and a toy stuffed rabbit.  If you are beyond beginner, please bring your supplies and a pattern on which you will work and receive help in class.

Experienced or lapsed knitters are welcome, as well as those who have completed a beginner class. Bring a project you'd like to start or one that's been sitting in the closet for years, as well as pesky problems and... let's knit! No group projects, no plan, just enjoy the simple act of knitting.

Dive into the world of block printing and create your own custom rubber stamps. This beginner-friendly class will guide you through the entire process, from designing your stamp to carving and printing. Join us and leave with your very own handmade stamps, ready to use for personalizing stationery, creating artwork, or adding a unique touch to any project. Happy stamping!

This course will cover the fundamental principles and techniques of drawing, such as color basics, blending of two or more colors, value vs hue, layering, shading, as well as linework and composition. During the class, the instructor will explain the how-to, the why, and best practices, present exercises for students to try, and may suggest ideas for drawing subjects. Using the skills taught in each lesson, students will draw on their own and should email a photo or scan of their project to the instructor by the evening before the next session. With permission, student work will be shared on-screen during the next Zoom class for feedback. Beginner and experienced artists are welcome.

Pen and watercolors are the perfect media match to capture all the rich shades of autumn. With leaves, trees, and seedpods glowing in crimson, gold, amber, and maroon, it is the most captivating time of year to record beautifully in our journals. Using a fine-liner pen, we will create botanical journals with simple lines and marking techniques, beautifully enhanced with transparent watercolor—all celebrating the glorious fall season. All skill levels are welcome.

Learn how to weave a basic basket that you can use for serving bread on your table or for storage. The basket is made of reed, and the finished size is about 11" x 8" by 4” high. You will learn how to weave start/stop rows or plain weave, how to create a base with fillers, and how to fit and lash a rim. There will be a choice of colors for the stripes. This class is appropriate for beginners and experienced weavers alike.

In this 7-week class, students will explore using various media such as watercolors, pen and ink, colored pencils, markers, and more. We will create in our sketchbooks, drawing from observation and photographs and experiment using various tools and techniques. A sketchbook practice is a wonderful way to explore, experiment, and permit oneself to create freely. Over the course of the session, students may finish 2-3 works of art. All levels are welcome.

Join the Outdoors Contained to learn how to embellish a cut green wreath. They will provide the wreath as well as a variety of ribbons, fruits, feathers, berries, and natural elements and will teach you to curate and assemble your own holiday wreath which you will take home to celebrate the season as well as the holidays.

You've taken some great photos...what's next? This course teaches beginner and expert photographers how to organize, develop, edit, retouch, and share your photos with Adobe Lightroom Classic. Students will start with the fundamentals and finish with a comprehensive workflow they can use to take their photos from RAW to WOW every time! Topics covered include interface basics, importing photos, cropping, adjusting exposure, recovering highlights, color balance, sharpening, applying effects, retouching portraits, enhancing landscapes and exporting for printing, emailing, and social media. No prior digital photography classes are required.

In this introduction to paper quilling class, participants will learn the basics of quilling and design through jewelry making. Students will choose to make a necklace, bracelet, earring, hairpin, or ring. This is a perfect class for those who have always wanted to learn quilling, as well as for those who want to practice and refine their skills.

Learning to draw three-dimensional shapes is the key to creating beautiful holiday botanicals. We will use a range of quality graphite pencils and drawing tools, all in a practical and pretty “Ginny’s Art Kit.” Each week, we will take the simplest shapes and turn them into iconic holiday botanicals: ball shapes become berries, rosehips or oranges, pyramids turn into pinecones, cylinders transform into twigs, and cups can be acorns. Using rich 100% cotton paper, we will create card-size keepsakes in the spirit of the season, inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us. All skill levels are welcome.

In this one-evening workshop, you will design and create a holiday ornament. These ornaments can be decorations for your tree, place cards for your holiday dinners, or gift tags for special gifts. You will learn techniques to enhance handwriting and flourish the words on your ornaments. No calligraphy experience is necessary. 

Immerse yourself in the enchanting and meditative art of Suminagashi, the traditional Japanese technique of paper marbling. In this class, you will learn to surrender control and delight in the process as colors dance on water and imprint onto paper, resulting in beautiful, unpredictable designs. You will produce custom-designed and uniquely marbled papers that reflect the beauty and spontaneity of this ancient art form and are suitable for stationery, decorative purposes, or collage materials.
