Delicate yet hardy Snowdrops, American Pussy Willow, Crocus, Hellebores, and Witch Hazel are just a few of the fascinating plants we’ll explore with our very sharp colored pencils. With Brilliant Bees, we will delve into the fascinating world of the amazing insects that continue to pollinate our blooming plants through the frigid months of winter. Our skills will improve with a series of exercises on our well-known templates, and GINNYKITS will be filled with beautiful colored pencils and all the tools to create delightful flower portraits. All participants are welcome, as every colored-pencil journey is honored.

Drawing Foundations and Beyond Build a strong foundation in drawing with this step-by-step class designed for all levels. Over the course of the class, you’ll:
- Master three essential measuring skills.
- Learn to draw simple still lifes and landscapes.
- Develop your understanding of light, shadow, and shading.
Each week focuses on clear, practical exercises to help you gain confidence and accuracy in your drawing. Students will work on completing both a still life and a landscape, and we will devote the last couple of classes to portrait drawing. This class is suitable for both beginners and more experienced artists. Previous students are welcome and encouraged to register; projects will be tailored to skill level.

Watercolor is a luminous and expressive medium that invites creativity and exploration. In this course, students will continue to develop foundational watercolor techniques—including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, color mixing, and composition—while adding a new dimension: drawing. Basic drawing concepts will be introduced and practiced to help students create more realistic and refined watercolor paintings. With guided instruction and hands-on exercises, you'll gain the confidence and skills to bring your artistic vision to life. Let your imagination flourish as you blend drawing and watercolor into vibrant, dynamic works of art.
This course will assume some familiarity with watercolor basics such as wet-on-wet, dry brush techniques, color mixing, and brushwork, as these will not be the primary focus of instruction. If you’re new to watercolor, we recommend starting with Watercolor Foundations: A Two-Week Workshop, where these foundational skills are taught.
Take a look at some pictures from Jackie Meier's past classes here.
PLEASE NOTE: Students should purchase their own watercolor paper pad (suggested options: Watercolor Pad #1 or Watercolor Pad #2). All other supplies will be provided.

They are waiting to be captured forever in our little blue horizontal books. Sweet acorns and tiny red berries, curled colored leaves, and mossy green twigs invite us to look closely to discover their beauty and beginnings. Horizontal journaling introduces every participant, whatever their skills, to learn about mark-making in archival ink and then painting in lovely transparent watercolor using dry brush, to create a lasting nature story. We will identify, research, share, and enjoy learning in a welcoming, participatory class.

PLEASE NOTE:
- Students should purchase a 5” x 8” horizontal journal. The instructor recommends this one.

In this two-session workshop, participants will design and carve a double-sided wood block, one side for bold color shapes, the other for fine details. Students will develop their own imagery, transfer designs, prepare and carve the block, and explore color layering through printing. No experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore the creative world of printmaking.
