    At its heart, Bridge is a game about winning tricks, and the best way to understand how is by learning how the declarer (the player in charge of the hand) plays their cards. In this class, you'll explore simple strategies for counting immediate winning tricks and working around common challenges. You’ll also learn how to create extra tricks by using high cards wisely, playing long suits, or using smart techniques like finessing. This class is perfect for players who have taken one or both of our fall bridge series or who have at least a year of recent playing experience.

    Building on their knowledge of the game, students will review the Mah Jongg basics and the current card of hands. We will learn more defensive, strategic steps towards winning the game and/or playing against challenging players, as well as quicker decision-making in ways of choosing hands (which is the most challenging and difficult for most players) and betting options.


    PLEASE NOTE:

    • Students should have taken Beginner Mah Jongg or have equivalent knowledge and experience.
    • Students should bring the 2025 National Mah Jongg League card to class. These can be purchased through the National Mah Jongg League website by clicking here (please allow a few weeks for shipping), or at local shops such as Village Design Studio in Bronxville. If your card doesn't arrive in time, handouts will be available.
