Yoga Sculpt is a blend of yoga postures incorporating restorative yoga, power yoga, and vinyasa (mindful movement) to build strength, develop flexibility, and balance the mind-body connection. This class will strengthen the muscles and bones in your body, reduce the risk of injuries, offer calm and clarity of thought, and help diminish the effects of aging. All levels of experience are welcome, and modifications will be provided where needed.

THIS CLASS IS FULL. Please click the "Add to Waitlist" button below. As we age, all of us fall into habits of using our bodies in ways that they were not intended for. Over time muscles become overstretched in some places and under-stretched in others, pulling our bones out of alignment and resulting in pain. In this gentle yoga class, the focus will be on using targeted yoga postures (not all yoga postures are helpful) to rebalance muscle groups and encourage realignment for the prevention and reduction of pain... so maybe we won't have to pop a Tylenol to get through the day! In addition, this class includes instruction in mindfulness practice and stress reduction-- important elements of every yoga session.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Wear comfortable clothing, and prepare to remove socks.
- Bring a yoga mat, two standard yoga blankets and two standard size yoga blocks (9 x 6 x 4 in.)
- Per Studio B's policy, NO SHOES of any kind may be worn in the studio where class takes place....not even indoor sneakers. ONLY socks (preferably with grips) and bare feet are permitted. No exceptions.

IT’S ALWAYS A YOGA PRACTICE, NEVER A YOGA PERFECT
Practice like it’s the first time every time.
Whether you want to begin a yoga practice or practice to maintain your yoga practice, this class has been designed for you!
In this class you will learn the fundamental and the foundational postures of the yoga practice. Each practice creates a pattern of consistency, develops muscle memory, and strengthens the mind-body connection. We will Explore various ways to both enter and transition from one posture into another, building towards learning the SUN SALUTATION; a yoga sequence practiced by yogi's all over the world.
You will begin to integrate the physical postures, with the asana (pose) names in both English and Sanskrit, develop an understanding of cues often heard in studio classes, with a nod to those that sound strange; "pull your naval to your spine" and "root down to rise up."
Yoga is a relaxant. Yoga heightens awareness, cultivates patience, and balances the body-mind connection. Yoga improves strength, musculoskeletal fitness, and flexibility. Learning the basics sets you on the path to a lifelong yoga practice. All you need to do is show up, roll out your mat, and practice like it's the first time every time.

Using Chair Yoga as the foundation of this class, the focus will be to develop and increase balancing skills critical for staying strong and safe. Balancing, whether you’re walking, running, jumping, and especially while standing, requires muscle strength and strong bones. Over time muscles and bones can weaken, causing us to lose strength, and balancing becomes more of a challenge. BUT…strong muscles and bones are not the only factors that keep us from getting wobbly. The sensory systems have a huge impact on balance. The receptors that enable touch and feel, the vestibular system (the complex inner ear workings), and vision have a profound impact, playing havoc with the ability to balance. Using a series of exercises that integrate both strength and agility with the sensory systems, done on and off the chair, you will align your bones and joints. Not only will you gain strength and balance more easily, but you will also feel more balanced.
